An Evening of Prayer for Medicine Students

On the evening of January 12, 2024, medical students gathered in an atmosphere of prayer and worship, directing their thoughts towards the upcoming exams. With open hearts and a desire to find encouragement in their faith, they embarked on a spiritual journey to prepare themselves for the exam session.

Using the head-heart-hands method, Lucian guided us through study and meditations from various passages of Scripture.

Exploring the book of Daniel, we discovered thoughts on perseverance in prayer and faith amidst adversity, thus being invited not to forget the power of prayer in times of trial. Based on chapter 4 of the book of Philippians, we then discussed worry and how to respond to situations that unsettle us.

Songs also contributed to creating an atmosphere of openness and honesty, within which each person sincerely shared thoughts and concerns from their personal lives.

We can thus say that it was not only an evening of prayer for the exams and for personal worries, but also a blessed time of discussions on how we can respond to the questions and searches of our unbelieving colleagues in order to assist them, as well as on how we can overcome worry.

We enjoyed a particularly special time of fellowship, which flew by so quickly that there was no time left for board games, as the discussions continued late into the evening. We appreciated the sincerity and openness of the participants, their desire to seek encouragement and comfort in the Word, and to support their colleagues who have to face their worries.
